Registered Phenomena Code: 070

Object Class: Beta-Purple1

Hazards: Sapient Hazard, Immeasurable Hazard, Organic Hazard

Containment Protocols: The non-anomalous portion of RPC-070 interior is to remain open to the public, with all areas leading to the anomalous portion sealed off. ASF personnel are to be stationed at all entryways leading to the area, disguised as local government officials.

The Arab Republic of Egypt has been majorly cooperative with the Authority in efforts to fully contain RPC-070, and as such, religious officials are allowed access to RPC-070-1. Any and all non-Authority personnel allowed access to RPC-070-1 are to be strictly outfitted and screened to avoid anything that could cause sufficient noise as to awaken RPC-070-1. Violation of this protocol will result in instantaneous termination, regardless of religious significance. The Egyptian government has fully agreed to these terms, with cooperation from the UNAAC2. Access to RPC-070 by Authority personnel is restricted solely to those either with Level 4 clearance, or specifically selected researchers with prior experience to related anomalies.

Non-digital records of inscriptions found within RPC-070 are kept within Site-062, within general records storage.

Description: RPC-070 is an anomalous portion of the Temple of Bastet, dating back to the Ptolemaic Dynasty. Although RPC-070 is within the populous city of Alexandria, cooperation with the Egyptian government has proved adequate for containment of RPC-070, and subsequently RPC-070-1.

RPC-070's anomalous properties manifest when one enters the latter portion of the temple. This area was designated to worship of the Egyptian goddess Bastet3. Although the temple originally belonged to Queen Berenike II of the third century B.C., the anomalous portion of the temple has been theorized to date back much further, the exact date of which is unknown.

Though the anomalous portion of the temple was previously used as worship of the goddess Bastet, numerous hieroglyphs and statuettes indicate that RPC-070 was used before the Egyptian religion was fully developed, to worship a different deity entirely. The deity, the name of which has not yet been translated, was depicted to heavily resemble Bastet, but served a different purpose in the mythology.

If a person is to enter RPC-070, nothing will immediately occur. The deeper one goes, however, the more disoriented the person will become. RPC-070 is only three levels deep, but visual distortions have been seen on the second floor. Entering the third and lowest level of RPC-070 will result in the subject being temporarily incapacitated, via anomalous means. CSD personnel have described being visited by a feline entity4 in a comatose state, however all have refused to give any insight on what the entity does in the dream.

The lowest level of RPC-070 contains numerous statues of non-humanoid feline entities, all standing on their hind legs. No personnel have managed to enter the lower level without either being terminated or rendered comatose, with the exclusion of CSD personnel. The reason behind this is entirely unknown, however cameras attached to personnel have been able to capture images and/or videos of the interior. At the far end of the chamber, a pedestal has been viewed, with a seemingly asleep specimen of domesticated cat, bearing great resemblance to RPC-070-1, as well as the many statuettes found inside RPC-070. Personnel with viderics neural transmitters have been able to temporarily resist RPC-070-1's believed attempts to render them comatose, resulting in RPC-070-1 briefly awakening. The exact second RPC-070-1 awakens, the viderics neural transmitter will be overloaded with information, resulting in instantaneous brain death of the personnel. This has only been attempted once.

Numerous inscriptions on the walls of RPC-070 chambers indicate an unknown language, vaguely resembling a mixture of Egyptian hieroglyphs and latin. Recognizable latin and hieroglyphic characters may be seen, however usually mixed in with unknown characters. A translation of the only portion written in standard hieroglyphics and latin may be found below. It is theorized that these texts date from the Roman occupation of the region, thus explaining their seeming latin-hieroglyph mixture.

Although these inscriptions are not inherently anomalous, when translated and placed under digital format, a number of visual anomalies may occur. It is presumed that this is a kind of anomalous "defense mechanism" put in place by the entity residing within RPC-070, in order to prevent digital documentation. Although unfortunate, this means that even though translations and records have been made of the inscriptions, none are linked within this document. Non-digital translations may be found in Site-062.

Addendum: Following incident RPC-070-1-Ω, RPC-070 has been designated Beta-Purple. More specifically, RPC-070-1, during an encounter with Researcher Yudhistira, showed the researcher a presumed illusion of what was later discerned to be the relative destruction of a 300 mi2 radius, specifically surrounding an unknown terminal device. Exactly fifteen minutes proceeding this encounter, the exact thing occurred, with the device later confirmed to be RPC-787. It is confirmed that RPC-070-1 did not specifically cause this, however showed previously unexpected knowledge of such destructive events. It did not, however, express any form of surprise or concern on behalf of the anomalous events occurring. Due to these factors, RPC-070-1 specifically has been classified Beta-Purple.
