On 03/07/2014 at 11:40, the Authority was informed that a town in Los Osos was affected with RPC-694. Due to ignorance of the anomaly's volatile and unpredictable nature, a first contact test was conducted with one CSD personnel under Senior Researcher Jeremy Freeman's recommendation.
Exploration Log-694-2
Foreword: CSD-34791 was chosen for his recreational past as a spelunker and his obsessive habit of sleuthing people at random. Subject was outfitted with one:
- Right-sided noise-cancelling earpiece
- Left-sided earplug
- Standard exploration Authority cam
- Authority positional receiver
- Ortec 905-4 scintillation detector.

(Feed comes on, shows an urban setting with an asphalt road stretching out and towards the beach)
CSD-34791: -t coming through now?
Command: Loud and clear. Approach the target. Describe persons affected around you.
CSD-34791: …Nothing out of the ordinary.
Command: Walk closer to the older couple to your right.
CSD-34791: Heh, thanks for indulging me.
(CSD-34791 proceeds with doing so, microphone picks up conversation between the two)
Passerby 1: It's been so long since we set ourselves out to shore, hasn't it love?
Passerby 2: (Laugh) Yeah. Guess we were too busy to accept settling down and enjoy the simpler things in life. The skies have never looked so pretty before.
Passerby 1: I still remember after all these years when pappy sat me down by these golden sands and we just watched the waves swing back and forth. Ah, one of my earliest memories was whe-
Passerby 2: When your father said the waves have been there long before we existed?
Passerby 1: Oh yes! I still remember the look on his face like it was yesterday. Although frankly he's always been such a worrywart!
Passerby 2: Then what happened? (says in a sarcastic tone)
Passerby 1: I kept having nightmares of the sea swallowing the town whole for years! I was well into my teenage years before I jumped into a swimming pool, much less the sea.
(Passerby 2 can be heard laughing)
Passerby 1: And you always find it funny, you twat!
Passerby 2: Why wouldn't I? And it's funny hearing you swear once a month.
Command: This is irrelevant to the directive, 34791. Move ahead.
CSD-34791: Argh.. fine! And just when it was getting good, too.

(CSD-34791 looks around the beach. 37 people can be seen sprawled across the shoreline, with RPC-694 contracting and swelling in the middle)
CSD-34791: Alright we're he- Ah Jesus, the fuck was that?
Command: We calibrated the noise-cancellation on your earpiece as a cautionary measure.
CSD-34791: A cautio- I wish I'd gotten briefed as to why.
Command: Report on radiation levels.
(CSD-34791 detaches his detector from the bandolier)
CSD-34791: Says here about… that's a micro unit right?
Command: Millisievert.
CSD-34791: (Gulp) 40 Milli Sv per hour.
Command: Standby and watch out for any odd behavior.
CSD-34791: (Sigh) Prick.
Command: (Murmuring) Has he read the unit list at all?
(CSD-34791 looks around for 4 minutes, Reports a 5 mSv/hr uptick)
CSD-34791: Something's up. They're all standing still.
Command: Elaborate.
CSD-34791: If I didn't know better I would have thought they're playing a game of living statues. All of them have this blank stare too. Hey can I poke one of them and see if something happens?
Command: Go ahead, but don't push it.
(CSD-34791 pokes a person's eye)
Command: You're testing me now?
CSD-34791: Heh, sorry I couldn't resist. But look, no reaction whatsoever. They're frozen soli- Fuck!
Command: Huh, that's a delayed… reaction if I've seen one.
CSD-34791: That scared the fuck out of me. Wait, they're all moving now. Is this some pr- Argh!
(A child is seen running away with the Authority earpiece in her hand. CSD is heard shouting before running towards her)
CSD-34791: Hey come back here!
Command: 34791 what's g-
CSD-34791: Get back here you little shit!
(CSD-34791 falls to the ground)
Command: Do you copy, 34791? Respond to me.
CSD-34791: (Cough) Hey fuckwit what gives?
Command: Excu-
(CSD-34791 punches an old man)
CSD-34791: Fucking trip me again, cunt!
Command: We lost him. Send Protectorate for RPC-694 capture, now.
CSD-34791: Hey get your fucking hands off me!
(CSD-34791 is grabbed and held by a group of people)
CSD-34791: (Screaming) Command help me! Oh god why?!
Command: Wait. Put Protectorate on stand-by. And consider CSD-34791 lost.
(About 10 people open the whale's lower jaw agape, CSD-34791 is forced in. Children can be seen cheering before the jaw slams shut)
(Pitch black video. Muffled screaming and internal noise is heard, followed by progressively louder growls. A deep hum's volume grows in tandem)
(Feed cuts to static)
Command: Damn waste of time. Jeremy, transcribe the report and email it to me.
(Loud bubbling sounds are heard)
Command: What's this?
(Feed elevates towards the surface)
Command: Keep the transmission running!
(CSD-34791 surfaces)
CSD-34791: (Gasp) Ho god! Agh!
(CSD-34791 retches)
CSD-34791: What's u- (belch) up with this water? Where the fuck am I?!
(Feed shows calm water extending out to the horizon in all directions. The sky is mostly clear save for occasional scudding clouds. No other landmarks are identifiable.)
CSD-34791: Oh Jesus Christ. Command I lost my earbud so I can't hear you. Get me outta here!
Command: Right. Jim, what are the transmission's coordinates?
Operator: Coordinates have yet to be triangulated, sir. Should take three minutes.
(CSD-34791 is heard hyper-ventilating)
(Command lowers audio transmission volume)
Command: How long till the battery runs out?
Operator: At most? Two days, sir.
Command: Hm.

<Cont. Log, [03/07/14 18:32]>
CSD-34791: Argh I can't see anything but far-stretching waters out here.
Command: It's been 20 minutes, Jim.
Operator: Excuse me, sir. No sign of triangulation stabilizing soon.
Command: God.
CSD-34791: Hey! If anyone's listening I'm describing whatever… this is. I'm not sure if the camera's showing this, but the waters' completely still, like I'm in some giant pool. Warm, too. Let me check something.
(CSD-34791 dives into the water and surfaces back after 20 seconds)
CSD-34791: Yep, no effort at all. I feel completely weightless swimming in these waters, and this thing isn't picking up any radiation either.
Command: I was quick to judge, we may get something out of this after all.
CSD-34791: Screw it, I'm swimming this one direction this cloud's moving; I'm not about to lay down and drown.

(CSD-34791 is seen swimming in the same direction the cloud was heading, albeit slower, as he pants. Sunlight at same luminosity as on date stamp 18:05)
CSD-34791: Not yet.
Command: Time's 11 o'clock and the sun is still up since 6. If my assumption is correct, he may be swimming across the Indian Ocean towards Africa. Let's hope he's closing in soon, he's been following the wind current towards land. And hope he's bluffing about the water being so still.
(CSD-34791 pauses for a few seconds and dives)
Command: This may just be it for him.
(Feed shows altitude declination, CSD-34791's arms are visible seemingly swimming down before pausing)
Command: What? Suddenly he's giving up no-
CSD-34791: (Shouts triumphantly)
Command: Jesus Christ! …How'd that come through?
CSD-34791: Hahahaha what the fuck?! I can breathe! I can even hear myself!
(Long inhalation is audible before exhaling)
CSD-34791: Holy shit!
Command: Goodness gracious.
CSD-34791: Let's see how far I can go.
(CSD-34791 dives further down for 3 minutes)
CSD-34791: Oh this is awesome. It's like… swimming in air. Or flying around RP Downtown without the depressing fucking concrete. Ah it's oh so calm here.
CSD-34791: Come to think of it. Where is the marine life? Shouldn't I be deep enough to at least encounter a crab I can eat? Wait a second. I don't remember seeing any fish so far.
Command: What's that white blur?
CSD-34791: What's this beeping sound?
(CSD-34791 checks the scintillator device)
CSD-34791: 2… h SV per hour. What does h stand for again? Weird looking y symbol, too.
Command: Get out of there.
CSD-34791: I think that's what comes before micro? Right, should keep an eye out then.
Command: Damn it!
(CSD-34791 continues further down)
(Slam)
Command: (Sigh) This fucking imbecile actually skipped the briefing! He's gonna get himself killed before finding anything substantial. Why do we rely on these retards?!

(CSD-34791 has reached a flat seafloor, and has been walking for 1hr and 3min)
CSD-34791: Fucking starving I would eat a squid if I (Cough) fuck- could.
(CSD-34791 stands still)
CSD-34791: Fuck this.
(CSD-34791 starts ascending back up, momentarily pausing to look around before continuing)
(Feed picks up a faint blue glow in the distance)

(Feed is back to normal)
(Footsteps can be heard in Command room)
CSD-34791: This can't be happening. This can't be happening. This can not be fucking happening!
Operator: Sir Coleman? Are you.. hey where are you going?
(Camera begins to move rapidly and unpredictably, apparently as CSD begins to panic)
(CSD-34791 throws up, the vomit follows a current)
(Feed picks up on the water moving towards a powerful vortex)
CSD-34791: (Screaming) No!
(Feed rapidly sinks)
(CSD-34791 stops flailing)
(Echo)
(Echo)
Unknown: (Echo) Craig.
CSD-34791: (Sounding dazed) Yes.
(CSD-34791 reaches forwards, arms passing by the camera. Much of the skin on his forearms and hands appears to have sloughed off; growing clouds of white and pink particulate matter at the edge of the image appear to indicate that his body is dissolving into the seawater or being somehow mechanically separated. The water is illuminated by a diffuse blue glow.)
Unknown: (Echo) Kleiman.
(CSD-34791 moves rapidly forward and down; visibility decreases rapidly in the last 3 seconds of the footage due to the presence of fleshy particulate in the water and image distortion consistent with extremely high levels of ambient radiation. Three clear frames appear to show a funnel-like depression on the seabed towards which the subject is falling or being pulled; when visible, the subject's forearms and hands are entirely devoid of most flesh and muscle tissue, and the bones beneath appear to be heavily corroded.)
<End Log, [05/07/14 20:13]>
Closing statement: Shortly after leaving his post, Commander Dan N. Coleman was apprehended and screened for RPC-694 affliction, then quarantined for 3 days until the effect eventually wore off. Video analysis by Senior Researcher Vernon Mort postulates the blue flash was caused by Cherenkov radiation, and that footage shown on 05/07/14 at 02:12 is not that of sea sand, but of bone. SnR. Mort sets radiation levels to gamma level, and estimates it peaking by the end log to 2133 Sv/h. How the anomaly learned of the CSD-34791's name is unknown.
Extra-dimensional and Psychotronic pended for addition to hazard list. Pocket dimension was later designated ALTR-694.
