Registered Phenomena Code: RPC-714

Object Class: Alpha-Red

Hazard Types: Visual, Info-Hazard

Containment Protocols:
RPC-714 must be kept in a 30x30x30cm glass case in the Multimedia Department on Site-313. Anyone who attempts containment breach must be admitted with Class-II Amnesiacs, and sent to Head Researcher Syke’s office to watch Stanley Kubrick’s film collection for 12 consecutive hours if retrieved on time. Any subject who is still laughing will be injected with Class-██ Amnesiacs, and to be under surveillance until further notice.

Description:
RPC-714 is a single copy of Robin Williams: Live On Broadway on DVD, released on 2002 by HBO. The case and DVD itself shows no anomalous properties. RPC-714's anomalous properties are from the recorded broadcast itself, where subjects who are watching RPC-714 are subjected to laughter in random intervals. The laughter becomes fatal, with the subject suffering either a cardiac arrest or a seizure. The fatal effect is seemingly at random.

RPC-714 is only fatal to subjects are in direct line of sight of the television. RPC-714 does not affect subjects who are watching from a mirror or through a window, nor does it affect subjects who can only listen to RPC-714 (see “Experiment Log RPC-714-B” and “Experiment Log RPC-714-C”). Testing with RPC-714 is still ongoing.

Discovery:
RPC-714 was once owned by Angela ██████, a 22-year-old woman who died from a sudden seizure while watching RPC-714. She bought RPC-714 from John ████, whose father died from a similar seizure while watching RPC-714. Upon further research, it was revealed that RPC-714 was owned by over 346 people over the span of 16 years. Furthermore, every individual who has owned RPC-714 has died either by seizure or cardiac arrest, depending on the owners age.

Once RPC-714 was within Site-313's possession, Prof. Stanford began testing to see what properties are causing the sudden deaths associating with RPC-714. Prof. Stanford and Doctor Jones watched RPC-714 for the first test, with Dr. Jones standing behind a 2-way mirror in the Observation & Viewing Room. At the 27 minute mark, Prof. Stanford began laughing maniacally, and after 5 minutes of non-stop laughing, collapsed to the ground. The on-site coroner’s report revealed that Prof. Stanford died from cardiac arrest, due to the excessive laughing. This event is recorded along with the other experiments in the Experiment Logs.

Notice From Head Researcher Sykes:

The number of containment breach attempts from the CSDs are becoming a problem. Like I get it, it’s a goddamn dare amongst the CSDs to watch the Funniest Movie That Kills, but you guys can just stream it. We do have a proper internet connection here, just use the goddamn Incognito Mode.
