FORMAL INVESTIGATION INTO SUPERNATURAL ACTIVITIES IN SALEM VILLAGE
FEBRUARY 1692 - JUNE 1695

INTRODUCTION

On the 20 of Jan. 1692, Abigail Williams (aged 11) and Elizabeth Parris (aged 9) of Salem — niece and daughter of Rev. Samuel Parris respectively — were stricken by a most Mysterious Illness unknown to our Medicine. Having ruled out all other possibilities, the Town hath looked to Supernatural Causes, and Williams and Parris have level'd Accusations of Witchcraft against: Sarah Osburne, aged 49; Sarah Good, aged 38; and Tituba, Indian house Servant to Rev. Parris.

On Feb. 27, this Council was appointed to aide Investigation into these Accusations. Our Ruling here shall determine the Fates of those accus'd of the Highest Crime of Witchcraft, a most Grave Injustyce against our Lord.


THE ACCUSATIONS

We shall briefly expound in more clear detail the nature of these Charges brought forth by the Afflected. Tituba Indian was the first to be accus'd… Eliz. Parris jun'r would scream and clutch her chest and say Tituba was Pinching and Pricking her. Abig'l Williams would do likewise.

The Accusations made against Goody Osburne & Goody Good are of our most special Interest. Abig'l Williams had claim'd that Good had
