Containment Protocols:
RPC-XXX is contained in an empty 5m3 standard containment chamber, maintained at a constant temperature of -57 °C (-70.6 °F) to prevent RPC-XXX's terminal from activation. The chamber must also be equipped with soundproofing materials.
Access to RPC-XXX is restricted to Level 4 personnel and above, and all interactions must be recorded on transcript for research and analysis purposes. Personnel entering the containment chamber must wear noise-canceling headphones and must not directly view the monitor of RPC-XXX.
No visual or auditory documentation of RPC-XXX is permitted without prior approval from Site Director ██████.
Description:
RPC-XXX is a phenomenon residing within an Olivetti M24 terminal with an RCA Model AER 055E radio wired to the left side of the terminal base. It is unknown how the radio functions, or how it was wired to the terminal without electrical issue.
Both the terminal and radio have displayed immunity to damage and can remain in an activated state, regardless of the presence of a power source. However, exposure to harsh conditions can temporarily malfunction RPC-XXX's terminal. The current method of preventing RPC-XXX's terminal from activation is by subjecting it to cold temperatures.
RPC-XXX is capable of speaking by flicking through stations on its radio. While RPC-XXX typically uses other voices of humans to speak, it does possess its own vocals that it uses in rarer situations. RPC-XXX has shown to be cooperative in most cases, however it is easily agitated and can become aggressive.
RPC-XXX has taken the appearance of both animals and humans and can shift said appearance at will.
The phenomenon is characterized by a highly lethal auditory and visual hallucination designated as RPC-XXX-A. When individuals view a clear image of RPC-XXX displayed on the monitor or hear a high pitched screech emit from its terminal, they begin to experience symptoms which progress through five stages:
- Stage 1: Mild unease and anxiety.
- Stage 2: Vivid nightmares of "unrecognizable figures" and audio hallucinations.
- Stage 3: Paranoia and increased hallucinations, including visual sightings of RPC-XXX.
- Stage 4: Severe mental instability, often accompanied by self-harm attempts and suicidal ideation.
- Stage 5: Complete mental breakdown, leading to catatonia or violent, unpredictable behavior.
After around 1 to 2 hours when stage 5 is completed, spike-like appendages will begin to tear and dig out through the afflicted individual's torso and head. Skewering their entire body within 2 minutes, this process is labeled as stage 6. If a bystander witnesses stage 61, they will also be afflicted by RPC-XXX-A and experience Stages 1 to 5. The progression from one stage to another varies from person to person, but can occur within a matter of days to weeks, depending on the individual's mental fortitude and susceptibility.
It is noted that the use of amnestics can delay or even "cure" an affected individual of RPC-XXX-A, depending on the amnestic and what time it was used during the progression of RPC-XXX-A. For testing and research, it is recommended that Class P amnestics are to be used for easy removal of RPC-XXX-A.

Discovery:
The origins of RPC-XXX remain mostly unknown, with no clear documentation or historical records regarding its initial manifestation. However, the earliest known encounter with the anomaly dates back to 1983, when a series of inexplicable events caught the attention of Authority personnel.
Reports of psychological distress and unusual deaths began to surface in the town of Riverton, located in Wyoming. Local authorities initially attributed these disturbances to a mysterious outbreak of mass hysteria, however the escalating severity of the incidents soon drew the attention of the Authority. Investigations led to the sight of ████ victims skewered on spikes near the southern border of Riverton.
Upon further investigation, a team of embedded agents discovered that the source of the distress was an Olivetti M24 terminal, subsequently designated as RPC-XXX, situated in an abandoned building located at 43°01'44.2"N 108°22'31.9"W. The terminal appeared to be in pristine condition, despite its age and the harsh environmental conditions in which it had been exposed.
The team's initial attempts to interact with RPC-XXX led to several members experiencing the effects of RPC-XXX-A. This unexpected development prompted the deployment of specialized containment protocols to prevent further exposure to the anomaly.
Efforts to trace the terminal's ownership and its connection to the local community yielded little to no information. It appeared that the terminal had been discarded and forgotten for years, with no records of its previous use or ownership.
Further research into the phenomenon and its potential connection to any known anomalies or groups is ongoing, with the hope of uncovering more about the origins and purpose of RPC-XXX.
